Check out some new, fun author studies for fifth grade to keep them engaged. Make your activities related to the read aloud and let students express their creativity.
Tips for Fifth Grade Author Studies:
- Some fifth graders think they are too old for read alouds. They’re not. Don’t ask for their advice or opinions; keep reading aloud.
- Having a set routine can help. Let students stretch out, turn the lights off, and relax.
- Don’t listen to the complainers! I promise someone in the class loves listening to read alouds, even if they don’t say it.
- Pick funny books and high-interest nonfiction to keep their interest.
